Hair loss after the first weeks following the hair transplantation has a negative effect on many people. It raises serious concerns about whether the hair transplant has been carried out appropriately. The causes of shock loss after the hair transplantation procedure are not known exactly. It is a temporary form of hair loss. It can be seen as a natural part of the process after hair transplantation.
While hair transplantation is performed, especially in the FUE technique, hair follicles are taken from the donor area and placed into the opened channels. The process that is carried out until the hair strands are taken from where they belong and transferred to another place is a period of adaptation and stress for the hair strand. Since the living part of the hair strand remains under the skin, it is protected by the skin. However, the part remaining on the outer surface of the skin is broken because it cannot protect itself. Although it is thought to be shedding from the root, the actual situation is shedding by breaking. In other words, the root of the hair strands can only be protected under the skin.
The shock hair loss experienced after transplantation occurs in three different ways.
● Loss of a transplanted hair.
● Loss of an untreated hair close to the transplanted area.
● Loss of a natural hair near the grafts taken from the donor area.
The causes of shock hair loss in areas where hair transplantation is not performed may be directly related to the surgeon performing the procedure. It may occur due to improper planning, improper collection or use of a wrong equipment while collecting hair grafts. The knowledge and experience of the surgeon who performs the procedure is crucial in this regard, as in other issues. If there is a problem caused by the surgeon in the hair transplantation, the shock loss of natural hair begins during the resting stage.
Shock hair loss starts three weeks after transplantation, but the maximum shedding rate can be observed after one and a half months.
After shock loss, the hair starts to grow after about three or four months. In the most obvious way, they take on the appearance of completely normal hair after one year, just like hair transplanted.
